Rybnik
The Rybnik Water Reservoir, also known as Lake Rybnik, is a water body, which was created by damming the Ruda river waters Rudy in Stodoły, a district of Rybnik. The project was primarily at cooling turbines of the Rybnik power plant. It results in a stream of warm water flowing into the reservoir. This popular lake attracts anglers and water sports enthusiasts.
In Rybnik one of the most interesting proposals for lovers of bike trips is Cycling along the blue trail No. 282, which forms a loop in the northern districts of the city. The route runs, inter alia, through the most beautiful forests in the area, and in the summer season it also offers an opportunity to do many water sports on the Rybnik Lake and in the city baths. Of course, along the way there is no shortage of sightseeing attractions. The length of the route is about 35 km.
Rybnik
Stodoły is the smallest district of Rybnik, located in the north-western part of the city on the Rybnik Water Reservoir. Its name might just come from barns (“stodoły” means “barns” in English), which were typical for the former rural settlement, or the "hundred holes", meaning a large number of pits associated with the mining of iron ore. The most important monument here is a Cistercian mansion, built in the Baroque style in 1736.
Canoeing along the Ruda river, which flows in the southern part of Upper Silesia, is an attraction for lovers of small rivers that have not yet been regulated over their entire length. Canoes can be put into the water in Stadoły, a district of Rybnik, at the Rybnik Water Reservoir. The canoe trail then leads westwards through beautiful forests of the landscape park "Cistercian Landscape Compositions of Rudy Wielkie" to the confluence of the Oder behind Kuźnia Raciborska.
Rybnik
Horse breeding in Rybnik was initiated at the beginning of the 90s of the last century, but formally the stud farm was initiated in 1994. At the beginning of this century, the idea appeared to Trakehner horses. This breed evolved as a result of crossbreeding conducted by the Royal Stud in Trakehnen in East Prussia.
